Recommendations for vaccination of the Yanomami indigenous people in the context of a public health emergency of national importance: Consider aspects of vaccination especially in the malnourished population for the following vaccines: Varicella, Pneumococcal 23-valent, Pneumococcal 13-valent, Meningococcal ACWY, HPV. Do not perform attenuated vaccines, especially yellow fever vaccine, in severely malnourished people, considering the uncertainties of immunological impairment in this condition. Perform intensified passive surveillance (and if possible active surveillance) of severely malnourished patients to assess the occurrence of ESAVI, especially in relation to live attenuated vaccines. Ensure updating of the Vaccination Calendar after discharge.
2) The recommendations refer to the emergency of national importance and are specific to this population: Perform training of professionals for management of the calendar considering the minimum intervals between doses and for administration of vaccines in the ventrogluteal area, mainly because it is a place of greater safety, especially in malnourished and less local and systemic reaction. Consider as a reference the guidelines for building the technical guide for immunization for indigenous people in situations of breaking isolation and the vaccination calendar for Isolated Indigenous Peoples and Recent Contact (PIIRC).
