NITAG recommendations

8 March 2022

Meeting date 8 March 2022

- CONAPI updated its recommendations on the use of heterologous vaccine schedules against COVID-19:

  • Preferably, the vaccination schedule should be completed using the same product keeping the recommended administration interval.

  • If there are insufficient vaccines in country to complete the primary schedule with the same vaccine, one can complete the primary schedule with another vaccine of the same platform or from a different platform.

  • For people who received a primary schedule of vaccines not used in Guatemala and have URL authorization from WHO, one can complete the primary schedule with another vaccine from the same platform or from a different platform.

  • Information should be provided to the recipient about the possibility of increased mild adverse reactions, for which the care and surveillance guidelines for ESAVIs must be followed.

  • The implementation of a heterologous schedule must be accompanied by a clear information campaign on the safety and effectiveness of the use of combinations of vaccines against COVID-19 by MoH.
