02/15/2024 Adoption of a single dose of HPV vaccine in the National Immunization Schedule for females and males aged 09-14 years, catch-up for adolescents up to 19 years and inclusion of Prep users as a priority group for HPV vaccine.
The participants of the CTAI/DPNI HPV subgroup unanimously recommended that the MOH follow the PAHO/WHO recommendation and adopt a single dose of HPV vaccine.
The change to a single dose will be only for adolescents aged 9-14 years (males and females), and should be accompanied by strong publicity of this new scheme, frequent monitoring of coverage, prevalence of HPV infection and HPV-related deaths, with the continuation of studies such as POP BRAZIL.
Promotion of vaccination in schools is also key to achieving high coverage, which is essential for the impact of the single dose, as well as better adherence to vaccination among the youngest (9 and 10 years).
Persons with respiratory papillomatosis should be included as a priority group for HPV vaccination.
Carry out a catch-up program up to 19 years of age to rescue the unvaccinated, which, depending on vaccine availability, should be initiated in the northern region, the place with the lowest vaccination coverage and highest cervical cancer mortality and the last region in the country to achieve cervical cancer elimination.
The operationalization of these new additions will be planned with DATHI, SAES, SAPS and CONASS and Conasems.
