Bivalent and Pediatric SARS-COV-2 Vaccine Update

  • The best vaccine for children is the one that is available in the country. However, certain aspects should be considered for the choice of vaccine: number of doses to be applied: 2 versus 3, vaccine without diluent or with diluent among others.

  • Delay the 2nd dose of Pfizer vaccine in children from 5 to 11 years of age until 8 weeks because immunity is improved by spacing the doses, reactogenicity such as pericarditis is reduced.

  • Withdraw 3rd dose in children aged 6 to 11 years with inactivated COVID vaccine and administer mRNA vaccine as 3rd dose.

HPV vaccination:

  • Continue vaccination with 2 doses in girls until age 14 years due to lack of evidence for single dose.

  • Vaccinate boys and girls next year in the 9- and 10-year-old cohorts.

  • Invite scientific associations for education and promotion of vaccination.

  • Convene a press conference to discuss HPV and the benefits of vaccination.

Monkeypox vaccination:

  • Use second or third generation vaccines.

  • Prioritize who should be vaccinated due to limited vaccine production:

  • Health care personnel in direct contact with patients, laboratory personnel, vaccinating personnel.

  • Patients in the first four days of symptom onset.

  • Contacts of cases.
